Baby Food Recipes For 7 Month Old Indian

This post is for babies who have completed 7 months and just starting their 8th month. Before reading this post, pls read my post on 6 months baby food chart for an overview about baby food. Click here for link.

After completing 6 months(180 days) of exclusive breastfeeding, on 7th month(running), I gave one food a day at brunch time. Now, after completing 7 months(210 days), on 8th month(running), I added one more meal. So, this month, I gave breakfast and late lunch. As I am still breastfeeding on demand, I just give 2 to 3 sips of water after every meal. Do not skip breastfeeding to give solid food. First breastfeed as usual and then give solid food after sometime. Give solids at least half-an hour to 45 minutes or even one hour after breastfeeding depending upon baby’s mood and appetite.

Below is my baby’s schedule for this month. This schedule is just for your reference. Please don’t try to fit your baby in this schedule. Let your baby decide his/her schedule to nap. And you choose a wise time (to feed solids) that suits you and your baby.

1/4 idly + 1 tbsp cooked dal(along with tomato, asafoetida, turmeric & roasted cumin powders) + lil ghee + 3 pieces of cooked pink radish.. Cook radish along with dal.

Beetroot idly with coconut milk dip. Chop beetroot (or grate if it is less) & grind it in mixie, pour the puree to idly batter, mix well & make idly. Blend 2 tsp grated coconut, 1/4 cup water, a pinch of cardamom powder in mixie. Pour into strainer & press well to extract coconut milk..

Carrot + peas + rice purée. I didn’t hav cooked rice today as I just made pulao for us.. So, made a porridge with rice+pottukadalai powder and added cooked & mashed veggies to it.. Detailed step of this can be found in the notes section of the recipe. Click here for recipe.

Month Baby Food Chart, Food Chart/ Meal Plan For 11 Months Old Baby

White Rava upma - Dry roast 1 tbsp rava in sim for 2 minutes..Transfer to plate.. Saute 1 tbsp finely grated carrot in 1/8 tsp ghee.. Add 3/4 cup water, keep closed until carrot cooks.. Then simmer & add rava.. cook closed for 2 mins.. Stir in between.. Once water is absorbed , switch off & keep closed for 5 mins.. Stir well & feed warm..

Curd rice with potato fry.. Mash cooked rice & mix with fresh curd. Boil potato for 4 to 5 whistles . peel the skin , chop into big bite sized pieces.. In coconut oil, add potato pieces, sprinkle a little pinch each of turmeric + asafoetida + roasted cumin powder + very finely crushed pepper powder.. Sauté in sim.. Just sauté till spices are well coated & cooked.. The potatoes should be soft and not crispy.

Carrot idly with onion chutney.. Just ground carrots with very lil water and added to normal idly batter & made idly.. Fried onions and ground for chutney..White onion or Indian red onions suit this recipe.. American red onion is too strong for this chutney.. For adults, add fried red chillies , lil tamarind, rock salt & grind with fried onions.. No water and no tempering..

Potato masher-mashed cooked Matta rice with spinach puree.. Gave a piece of orange post meal.. Click here for spinach mash recipe.. While grinding, took some spinach, onion, garlic, cumin seeds and ground in one batch.. Took out a tbsp of it for the baby.. Then added the rest along with salt and ground for us..

Handmashed Fruit Salad - Avocado, banana, blueberries - Do not feed blueberries as such .. It might cause choking- Cut or squeeze and feed.. For firm berries, peel the skin, smash & feed.. For well-ripened berries, just cut/squeeze/mash and feed with skin..

😋Toor dal(pressure cooked for 5 whistles with tomato, small onions, garlic, asafoetida, oil, turmeric & roasted cumin powders).. Mashed with ladle. For adults, made a tadka with oil, mustard, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green & red chillies, cooked dal , salt & coriander leaves.

😋Broccoli stir fry - Just steam cook wet broccoli florets in a Pressure cooker for 3 to 4 whistles in a closed bowl without water, but little water outside the bowl. In a Pan, coconut oil + steamed broccoli + turmeric + roasted cumin powder. Sauté for 2 mins.

Oothappam with tomato chutney - She liked this so much.. Recipe - Fry dry red chillies, 1 big onion and 2 tomatoes.. Take a batch of fried onions and tomatoes alone and grind for baby. Take out a tbsp for baby and add the remaining with red chillies & grind with rock salt for adults.. No water or tempering required..

😋Spinach pulses mash - Click here for recipe - but didn’t pressure cook.. just pan cooked and mixed with mashed Matta rice..

Indian Baby Food Chart For 7 Months Baby

😋Steamed and tempered cauliflower just like yesterday’s broccoli - Gave 2 or 3 as finger foods. It should be cooked too soft. U should be able to mash easily with 2 fingers.

Pressure cooked Sweet potato for 2 whistles, then peeled the skin .. Just hand mash and feed.. Have a bowl of water and dip ur hand everytime you take a piece of sweet potato to feed.. This is just to moisten it to ease swallowing..

Lunch - Carrot + beans + rice + fried gram kichdi - Cook chopped carrot and beans in 1/4 cup water in a closed pan.. Mash it very well with a potato masher and transfer it to a bowl.. Add a heaped tsp of rice + fried gram porridge powder(click here for recipe) in 1/4 cup water and cook in medium flame until thickens for a minimum of 5 mins.. Then add the mashed veggies to it and cook for 1 more minute.. Add lil ghee , mix and transfer to feeding bowl..

Month Baby Diet: An Authoritative Guide By Our Experts

Fruit salad - Papaya, grated apple, orange pulp - handmashed papaya and split the orange pulp further, while feeding.. I don’t get papaya from Indian stores here as they have no seeds at all and seem to be hybrid ones.. I got green papaya from Kroger, wrapped well in a big newspaper and placed it in dining table for a week until it ripened well .. Once cut, it had so many seeds just like homegrown ones in India.. It was so delicious 👌

Chayote squash / chow chow + (rice + moongdal porridge powder) kichdi - First chop & cook chayote squash in 1/2 cup water in a closed pan for 5+ mins until soft. Drain the water , smash the veg with potato masher and keep aside.. Pour back the drained water to the pan, add a heaped tsp of porridge powder(click here for recipe) and mix well without lump. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and cook in low medium flame for 5 mins(keep stirring) until it thickens well. Then add mashed squash, lil ghee , stir for few seconds and switch off..

Ven pongal, toor dal , zucchini - For pongal, soaked raw rice and moongdal for 20 mins, washed and added 4 times water, 1 inch peeled ginger, asafoetida, roasted cumin & pepper powders, oil - Cooked for 4 whistles. Opened, added lil ghee & mixed well.. Took out small portion for baby and then added salt & tempered with pepper, cumin seeds, curry leaves, chillies, more ginger & coriander leaves for us.. Toor dal soaked for 20 mins, washed & cooked with tomato, asafoetida, roasted cumin & turmeric powders for 5 to 6 whistles.. Mashed & took a tbsp for baby and used the rest in our sambar. Cooked zucchini separately & used it for baby and in our sambar.. Just to show u what all goes in her bowl, I have displayed as such.. Then I mash either with hand or potato masher or just using back of spoon to feed her..

Month Old Baby's Food: Solids, Food Chart And Recipes

Carrot 🥕 + broccoli 🥦 + chow chow + rice - In 1/2 cup water, add 5 broccoli florets(use stalks if tender or just avoid, if it’s too thick) + pinch of asafoetida, turmeric & roasted cumin powders. Cook covered in medium flame for 5 mins. Then add chopped chow chow(5 pieces) and grated carrot(1/4).. Cook covered for 10 more mins. Check for water often and add if required.. Once all are cooked soft, add a tbsp of cooked rice and mash everything using a potato masher.. Add lil ghee , mix well and feed warm...

Pink radish + tomato + rice + moongdal kichdi.. Peel the skin & cut thin slices of radish. Cut 1/4 of a tomato, do not chop. Add both to a pan with 1/2 cup water & cook closed in medium flame for 10+ mins or until softly cooked.. Off.. Let it cool down.. Peel off the tomato skin, squeeze the tomato well in hand & discard the large lumps.. Let some soft & small tomato fleshes stay in..Using a potato masher, mash the cooked radish
