When I first started cooking, I dedicated myself to learning how because it was a cheaper, more wholesome, and more delicious way of eating. Little did I know that onceourlittle onecame along, I’d start making her food for all the same reasons!

I already hada food processor (and if you like to cook, chances are youdo, too), soI found no need tobuy an expensive baby food maker. Instead, I bought an electricfood steamer for under $30 that can steamlarge portions of two foods at once.Cheap and easy! I steam the chunks of veggies and fruits until soft, blend them up(adding water to thin), and pour the purees into a liquid measuring cup. This makes pouring into the freezertrays a snap. I smooth the filled tray with a rubber spatula. DIY baby food recipes can be made in 3 ways - steaming, roasting or boiling. Steaming retains the most nutrients, followed by roasting and finally boiling.

Notes on baby blender: You can get a specific baby food maker for puree recipes like the Beaba Baby but we have always used either the affordable Magic Bullet or the Vitamix.

The first section is single ingredient purees where you can combine one with other (usually a fruit and vegetable work best) or later on you will find our mixed ingredient purees.
