I am obsessed with Whole Foods. I am like a bee to honey at their smoothie + juice bar. Drinks taste so much better when the magicians behind the bar make them for me. #amiright
I spend like 3 minutes staring at the menu every single time I order a smoothie and end up going with either the Green Goodness or the C-Breeze (recipes below). I feel pressured when I get to the front of the line, so I end up going with my faves. I wanted to break down the smoothie option list for you based on the nutrients, sugar content and popular choices.

Green Goodness (this buddy is awesome because of it’s variety. It’s an immunity booster, just make sure you replace the juice with coconut water for electrolytes + inner cellular hydration.
Green Goddess Smoothie + My Favorite Places In Grand Rapids, Michigan
C-Breeze – this little beauty is higher on the sugar content with the strawberries + pineapple, but it tastes like a Caribbean dream + I like the clean vegan protein.
Cloudy Chai – I haven’t tried this one for fear of liking it too much, but I did do some research on the chai protein powder and found that each scoop contains less than 1 gram of sugar! I don’t know if the iced coffee is just that or there’s some flavor added, also not sure if they use unsweetened coconut milk so that might be something you want to ask next time you’re there. But, the banana and dates make this a medium to higher sugar content smoothie. I don’t know how many dates are used either.
The Nutter – my husband’s favorite drink (besides beer + whiskey). This smoothie is packed full of healthy fats from the almond milk + butter, but again, I would ask (if you’re curious) about how many dates they use and is the cocoa unsweetened or regular? If you make it at home, try cacao powder and see how it tastes. The banana and dates will even out the cacao bitterness.
Green Goddess Smoothie: Power Up Breakfast
Mondo Berry – just like it sounds, berries + well, berries. The antioxidant power house, electrolyte dance party mix! This one doesn’t have enough pizazz for me, kind of like a plain Jane, but still delish.
Strawberry Hempster – every hippie is birkenstock slumping towards the counter. “how ’bout one of those, hempster’s?” The hemp protein powder can be a little grainy, but a clean mean delicious machine!

Matcha – the coffee alternative. Did you know that one serving of matcha tea is equivalent to 10 cups of green tea? WHAM BAM! Matcha also burns calories + boosts metabolism AND lowers blood sugar. “Can we have the check?”
Easy Green Goddess Dressing
Blue Monkey – berries, milk, bananas and the super star aka spirulina. Did you know that spirulina is the most nutrient dense food on the PLANET!? It’s 65% protein and amino acids including the essential GLA. If you’re a health nut like me, read more here.
Want to know the coolest thing ever? I was talking to the smoothie gal about how I wished the Nutter catered to people with nut allergies and offered like a sunflower seed butter and coconut milk option and she said, “Did you know you can buy something from the store and we can replace any ingredient for you?” INSERT GIANT SMILE! How awesome and accommodating is that!? Next time, I am heading in with my army of friends (aka sun butter + coconut milk) and we’re going to have a party. Now I know I could just make these smoothies at home, but that would defeat the purpose of having a Whole Foods interaction!! Some may say it’s my second home. And I might even imagine what it would be like to work there sometimes. And okay sometimes I talk to the employee’s like their my besties.#noshameI am really really excited to tell you guys that I am an official contributor for Olympic gold medal winning gymnast Shawn Johnson’s website The Body Department! I went to Whole Foods the other night after spin and ended up ordering the BEST smoothie. I’ve been making my Simple Green Smoothie every morning, but I’m quite certain that this is my new go to! The best part is that it’s just as simple to make! See my video below to watch me make this smoothie step by step!
Ally's Power Morning Smoothie
I love getting smoothies from juice bars and markets when I’m low on time and groceries, but sometimes I don’t think their smoothies are thick enough for my liking and I drink them in a nanosecond. My recipe is a little bit thicker but to my knowledge, tastes exactly the same as theirs! If you like thick smoothies, you are in the right place! But if you like your smoothies a little thinner, no problem, just add some extra coconut water to this recipe!
And I apologize for all of the smoothie recipes recently, it’s so hot in CA! We literally haven’t had winter at all here, boooo. I want snow and hot soup!
